Amazon & Microsoft’s $1 Billion Deal

Traditionally, they were said to be fiercely competitive as tech companies.
In October 2023, it was reported by Business Insider that Amazon is poised to become a significant client of Microsoft’s cloud-based 365 productivity suite.
This agreement is said to be valued at over $1 billion
It is said that the deal takes shape as Amazon commits a sum that extends beyond 5 years.
Amazon’s ambition is said to be to acquire more than 1 million licenses for Microsoft 365.
So, this could provide Amazon’s employees with alternatives to the company’s existing in-house products and reshape its work ecosystem.
That being said, Microsoft has chosen not to comment on the deal, which could potentially reshape the cloud productivity landscape.
It may be that Amazon was wary of entrusting its data to the cloud offerings of competitors.
This skepticism may have led Amazon to steer clear of Microsoft’s cloud-based 365 suite in the past.
Yet, this new alliance may signify a change of heart for Amazon.
Amazon’s plan is said to kick into high gear in November 2023.
This is said to coincide with Microsoft’s release of an upgraded 365 suite equipped with AI capabilities.
That being said, there have been times in the past when they’ve joined forces on initiatives.
In 2019, Amazon introduced an Alexa app to the Microsoft Store.
And in 2021, Microsoft made its apps like Office and OneNote available on Amazon Fire OS.
