An a plane run on the oil you fry your samosas in? It might. In November 2023, Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner took off from the UK to the US. And it was powered entirely by 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). SAF can be produced by animal fats and used cooking oil. It can be blended with traditional jet fuel up to 50%. The Virgin Atlantic flight was said to utilize SAF exclusively for the journey.
