What’s up with India’s tech sector? And what’s the role that women can play in tech in India? It’s said that women make up close to 35% of the IT workforce. And the majority of these workers are said to be under the age of 30. India may be close to a 50:50 gender parity rate in STEM graduates.
But, there may still be a myriad of challenges for women in tech. Can a gender parity rate be maintained as women rise up the ranks? According to a 2022 report, close to 10% of about 1000 women tech professionals surveyed held exec-level positions.
So, women might find themselves contending with a conspicuous absence in leadership positions. This might mean there are fewer female role models.
