How do you know how good a generative AI model is? There’s the Turing Test. It’s named after the father of AI: Alan Turing. You may have seen Benedict Cumberbatch portray him in the 2014 Hollywood movie “The Imitation Game”. Turing wanted to explore in 1950 how computers could think. If a human being were to talk to another human being and a computer at the same time, could the person discern which of the two was human? If the computer seemed to be indistinguishable from the human being 70% of the time, it wins. This was the Turing test.
